Thanks for your interest in the Taglit-Birthright Israel: OU - Israel Free Spirit experience. We love our trips and we are thrilled to share the experience with you! Registration for the Winter 2014-15 season opens in September.

The following is a detailed explanation of the registration process for the Summer 2014 season of Taglit-Birthright Israel trips with Israel Free Spirit. Please take a moment to read these details carefully!

Stage #1: Taglit-Birthright Israel Primary Application

Stage #1: Taglit-Birthright Israel Primary Application

First, you will need to submit the online Taglit-Birthright Israel "Primary Application." This link only becomes active when registration opens. There are eight sections to the Primary Application:

Personal Registration info (Sections 1-5)
During Steps 1-5 you will be asked for some basic contact and biographical information. Keep in mind that as part of the second step, you will need to choose a trip provider. Be sure to select "OU-Israel Free Spirit."
 
Taglit-Birthright Israel Waiver & Agreement  (Section 6)
After entering your personal registration details, you will be asked to indicate that you agree online to the terms of the "Gift Waiver & Permission Agreement". 
 
$250 Refundable Trip Deposit  (Section 7)
In Step 7 you will need to submit a $250 refundable trip deposit.
All Taglit-Birthright Israel applicants must submit a refundable deposit in order to be considered for a trip. The deposit can only be submitted online via the "Payoneer" service. You will have the option to pay the deposit via credit card or debit card bearing a MasterCard or Visa logo (a $10 fee applies).

Your deposit is 100% refundable unless you are confirmed on a trip and then cancel after the cancellation deadlines.  

E-Mail Confirmation (Section 8)
At this point you will automatically receive an email which will notify you whether you are eligible for the program on a preliminary basis. To proceed with your application, you will need to click on the confirmation link.

Your application will ONLY be considered complete after you have submitted the full online Taglit-Birthright Israel application, including the $250 refundable trip deposit. The sooner you complete the above steps, the better your chances of getting on the trip that you want. You will only be able to submit these forms as of September 10.


Stage #2: Israel Free Spirit Secondary Application -

After you have completed the Taglit-Birthright Israel "Official Application," the next step is to submit the "Secondary Application" on the Israel Free Spirit website. There are a few steps to the Secondary Application:

- Trip Date Selections
We have departures from New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, Florida and Cleveland. After you completed the Taglit-Birthright Israel "Primary Application," you will select your preferred trip dates on the Israel Free Spirit "Secondary Application." Each time we post additional dates, we will notify you and give the chance to update your trip date choices on the "Secondary Application."

- Travel Companion Requests 
If you wish to travel with a friend or family member, you will be able to indicate here who your travel buddies are. We can not guarantee to link you on the same trip as your friend, but we certainly do our best.
 
- Copy of Passport and Personal Photo
Although we can technically offer you a spot on a trip without it, you will not be allowed to board the plane unless we first receive a copy of your passport. To fulfill this requirement, all we need is a copy of the inside cover of your passport (i.e. the page with your picture and the passport numbers). If it is available, we encourage you to post the passport copy immediately.
If your passport is not currently available, that's ok too. It can be submitted at a later date. Keep in mind that to travel to Israel, your passport must be valid for at least six months following the date you arrive in Israel. In case you don't own a valid passport, we suggest that you apply for one asap.
We also ask that you send us a personal photo of yourself.
 
- Israel Free Spirit "Waiver & Agreement"  
Third, you will need to indicate that you agree to the terms of the Israel Free Spirit "Trip Waiver Form". This document will be available for review shortly.
 
- Health Insurance
You're not required to purchase health insurance until you're confirmed on a trip.

Stage #3: Get Interviewed!

The last and final step before we can formally assign you to a trip is the telephone interview. The purpose of the interview is to make sure that you are eligible for the program and to answer any and all of your questions. We are always happy to speak with family members as well if that is helpful. We will call you in order to complete the interview within 3-4 weeks of your registering. Do not panic if you do not hear from us right away. The order that we contact you for your phone interview has nothing to do with our "first come / first serve" policy for assigning spots on the trips.  

Stage #4: Accept Your Spot on the Trip

We will send out actual trip confirmations via email. To make your spot on the trip official, you will need to respond to our trip offer message and accept your spot on the trip. As soon as you have officially accepted your spot on the trip we offer you, we will issue your ticket and begin sending you a series of pre-trip preparation messages. The actual itinerary for the trip will be released about a month prior to departure.
